Thrills I recently played a gig in a cinema, with some visuals accompanying each song. Sam, who was also performing, said that this was his favourite. So here it is.

Educate your Leaders A short film for www.1minutetosavetheworld.com “The COP15 summit in Copenhagen is the world’s best and last chance to stop runaway climate change. The conference itself is only open to UNCC member delegations, countries with observer status, and interested organizations and businesses. There will however be a large range of events targeted at a broader audience in parallel with the official conference, and vital information will be imparted at these. If past summits are anything to go by, our leaders need to be radically educated on what action is needed to combat the effects of climate change, particularly over the issue of deforestation. Educate them.”

Invest A short film for www.1minutetosavetheworld.com “In 2008 alone, the total worldwide expenditure on armaments and was $1.46 trillion. Whilst national defence is of genuine importance, the intensive stockpiling and trade of arms is not, to say nothing of hazing or the military use of children. Offsetting the worst effects of Climate Change cannot be done without considerable sums of capital and an immense human undertaking; both of which conflict and military predominance taps. And when war is profitable, you are guaranteed to see more of it. Changing the world truly is in the hands of the profiteers. Stop. Invest in something precious instead.”

Smile ‘A Lego man, fluent in all 23 European Languages, travels round Europe on its train network; chatting to locals, asking for directions, advice, and generally having a great time, experiencing what Europe has to offer from the privileged condition of being able to articulate himself in the native tongue.’

This film was made for, and won one of the ELIA E3’Film Awards: Language through Lenses in 2008. It could not have been completed without the help of, among others, Dave and Henri; and whose efforts also made it so much fun to film.

Somnus ‘Refljo’ by Murcof

Promofunk My first Lego man film; I was going to put credits up during the end sequence but never got around to it. My house mates Jon & Andy lent me some props; they would have been on it, had it been finished. The soundtrack is ‘Promofunk’ by Soft Pink Truth.

Summer ‘Music for Mallets’ by Steve Reich. From a summer spent in Cornwall and Norway. I’d just watched Koyaanisqatsi and wanted to do something similar.

Noon Composite soundtrack made from ‘data.microhelix’ by Ryoji Ikeda, and ‘Track3a (2waynice)’ by Keith Fullerton Whitman

A Very Cornish Summer Poppy sent us a mix tape down from London with this song on it, so we sent her this film back. At the time, Will and I used to work in these two bookshops on the same street, and David used to come in everyday at lunch and harass us with delicious pastries. For that entire summer, I don’t remember a single of Will’s ‘book of the week’ ever selling…

Slip ‘traxdata’ by Fennesz.

Mes ‘Floor’ by Sevenark

Swing   ‘Fare Thee Well Blues’ by Joe Calicott.

Vienna   From the summer in Vienna. Rose was always going to come with us, but instead cycled all the way to Paris! It’s pretty awfully filmed, we all come off as complete imbeciles, and perhaps it seems over-sentimental in its choice of music; but if anything the film falls short of how marvellous our time in that city was. I guess you simply had to be there. And anyway, we made it as a gift – it was lovely to see her reaction when we played it to her. (On the way home Will and I were in a coach crash. It was pretty terrific, and I’m amazed that this film even survived.)

Flor   I went to Paris with an old Super-8 camera I bought for £5.

• Army Men (Part 1) A brief, harebrained idea struck my house-mate Dave and I in the studio one day.
